The novel coronavirus (2019nCoV) which originated from Wuhan hails from the same family as two other viruses. These are the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), both of which share symptoms of the coronavirus.

What are the symptoms of coronavirus?

In accordance with WHO, the most common COVID-19 symptoms are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some sufferers may complain of aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhoea. These symptoms appear gradually and are usually mild. Few people are infected but don’t develop symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

What are these symptoms?

In accordance with  WHO, the most common COVID-19 symptoms are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some sufferers may complain of aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhoea. These symptoms appear gradually and are usually mild. Few people are infected but don’t develop symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

Most cases of the diseases (roughly 80%) are mild, and people generally do not require special treatment to recover. Slightly less than 20% of those who catch COVID-19 become seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. These cases are generally older people.

If you’re of advanced age or have pre-existing medical complications such as high blood pressure, have heart issues, diabetes or are immunocompromised, you are more likely to be worse affected by the novel coronavirus. People suffering from fever, cold, or difficulty breathing should seek medical attention immediately. Though it may seem just like the common cold, it’s still best to keep yourself safe and confirm that you indeed do not have the coronavirus.

How does 2019-nCov spread?

The novel coronavirus spreads via human-to-human transmission, generally through bodily fluids such as mucus and droplets of saliva. When an infected person coughs, the virus is carried through the air for about 1.5 meters. Uninfected people then breath in these virus particles, touch surfaces with these particles, shake hands, or share a drink with infected people.

Coughs and sneezes can move various feet and remain in the air for up to 10 minutes, as stated by scientists.

While it is not yet known how long the virus can survive without a viable host, it generally ranges from a few hours to possibly months in similar viruses. The incubation period (length of time before symptoms show) is about 14 days, but has shown to be longer in some cases.

For example, South Korea’s 24th reported coronavirus case on March 8 was in quarantine from January 25 and did not have any contact with infected patients since January 25. This makes it an 18 day incubation period.

How bad is the Covid-19 situation in Singapore?

Above is a quick snapshot of novel coronavirus statistics in Singapore, presented rather beautifully. From this dashboard we can see that cases from March 6 onwards has risen quite a lot, which brings us to our next point:

How do we prevent the spread of coronavirus?

Looking at these statistics and constantly being exposed to news about it can be scary. But we are not helpless and can take action to protect ourselves and our families.

The CDC’s guidelines about coronavirus prevention says that we should

  1. Avoid getting in close contact with unwell people.
  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth (wearing a face mask if you are showing the symptoms of Covid-19 is a good way to remind yourself not to touch your nose and mouth)
  3. Stay home when sick.
  4. Use a tissue and throw it away in the dustbin whenever you cough or sneeze. If you lack a tissue, sneeze into the crook of your elbow.
  5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

What can EcoSense do to help keep you and your family safe and healthy?

We here at EcoSense understand the severity of nCov-19 and are committed to keeping you protected from viruses and bacteria in your home.

To combat the spread of viruses and kill them, we utilize advanced ozone generators that deodorize and disinfect dangerous or irritating airborne viral and bacterial particles in indoor environments. Ozone generators produce ozone, which are very effective at reacting with and breaking down harmful particles that it comes into contact with.

Advanced ozone generators are vey effective at removing mold and mildew, as well as viruses and bacteria in the same family as the coronavirus.

EcoSense, which is NEA certified performs expert ozone “shock” treatment that is especially excellent at dispelling nasty odours in indoor environment like your home or office.

How do ozone generators work?

While there are many ozone generators out there on the market, the basic premise is breaking down oxygen molecules (O2) into ozone (O3), which binds to viral and bacterial particles (among other harmful ones) and neutralizes them.

Why can’t I just go and buy an ozone generator, then? Why should I hire EcoSense to sterilize my home for me?

Besides the fact that we provide great customer service and have very reasonable prices, ozone generators need licensed professionals to operate them and special procedures to be followed.

One of many satisfied reviews from our customers.

If you attempt to buy a personal ozone generator and DIY your home with it, you may end up with one that lacks special particle filtration functions that we have. This means that at most, you may be able to remove some dust and hair from your house – but not be able to get rid of viral and bacterial particles, essentially rending it nearly useless.

Also, ozone generators require specific personal protective equipment (PPE) to be used in a safe manner that does not endanger your loved ones. This is especially true for protecting vulnerable family members such as pets or elderly parents. If you’d like to know more about our safety procedures, or how our specialized ozone generators work, please contact us and we will get back to you promptly.

Okay, is there anything else special about your home sanitation methods?

Definitely. We also use Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) to eliminate up to 99.9% of germs almost instantly. This process is similar to the formation of ozone in the upper atmosphere, where the sun’s ultraviolet radiation causes O2 to split into individual oxygen atoms.

Ecosense uses our dual-pronged approach to make sure that your home and health is well protected against the coronaviruses and other nasty bugs, why wait? We make your health our utmost priority, so contact us for a no-obligation free quote.
